Hampered by the cold, wet weather, numerous penalties and far too many injuries the Blue Bears fought hard for their position in the playoffs.  The Cougars were ready for battle, they were not going to make it easy for us.
The First Quarter was spent entirely on the Bear side of the field, ending with the Cougars 4th and 5 to the end zone.  We gained possession on our 4 yard line and in only 5 downs scored the first touchdown of the game.  A long Cougar pass got them back in the game, they scored as well and the first half ended six all.
In the Third Quarter the Cougars intercepted a pass and started their drive to our end zone at the 17 yard line, this time they scored.
Fourth Quarter found us again with our backs against our own goal line.  We recovered a fumble to gain possession at our 16 only to drop back to our 11 before the stars aligned – our line opened up the perfect hole, the Cougars bit on our well executed fake,  leaving our runner nothing but turf into the end zone.  The game ended in a 12-12 tie.
In Overtime the Bears had first possession and scored on a QB sneak.  The Cougars ended their drive on the 3 yard line, Bears win 18-12.  We meet the Hawks next week in the first round of the playoffs.

As the threat of rain loomed over the field at Ingersol Stadium, the MV Blue Bears set out to battle the tough Tigers of Tenino.  The excitement began with an opening kick-off return for touchdown by our fine special-teams players. The Bear offense was outstanding as well– scoring 4 touchdowns with 4 different players.  We ran up the middle, around the end, and passed the ball for touchdowns.  It was exciting to watch! We were up 20 – 0 at the half. The Bears may have let their guards down a bit as the Tigers battled hard in the third quarter to score a touchdown.  It was a very physical game that required our most well- rounded performance of the season. Ultimately the Blue Bears talented defense allowed just the one touchdown to win the game 33 – 7.  The coaches and parents are very proud of these boys and all they have learned this year!  Next Saturday we return to Ingersol to meet the cross town rival Capital Cougars for the last game of the regular season.

Bears 24, Lighting 0

The Major Varsity Blue Bears played a physical game against the Rainier Lightning in Tenino.  The speed and agility of the Bear running game was just too much for the Lightning to handle.  The Bears defense was able to contain and stop the surging offensive line and speedy back field of the Lightning.

After a disappointing loss in week one, where we battled the Wolves in what amounted to a defensive war of wills, the MV Blue Bears came back to defeat the Green T-birds on their home turf 20-13.
Bears scored on their first possession, only to be answered by the T-birds on their next drive.  The PAT kept us ahead 7-6 only minutes into the game.
Our next 7 came in the second quarter.
T-birds scored next leaving the score at 14-13.
Our final six points came from an exciting run on the “fan” side of the stadium.
Overall, the Bears moved the ball well, both around the outside and with hard earned punches up the middle.
Defense looked great!  We blitzed well and had several key backfield tackles, including a deep one late in the fourth quarter, which left the Bears offense little to do but bide their time with just seconds left in the game.
Next Saturday we head to Tenino to battle the Rainier Lightning.
