The Minor Blues took a disappointing loss on Saturday to a tough Green T-Bird team. The Birds got up early on
never let up cruising to a 19-0 win. The bears fought hard and never gave up, going with the no-huddle offence
down to the last play before running out of time. The game was closer than the score with the Bears, at times,
moving the ball well on offense, and making some key defensive stops including two of the three T-Bird P.A.T.s.
The game was just a few key turnovers and couple of T-Bird breakaways from a really close game.
Several players returning from last years championship team as well as the new guys suffered their first loss as
Bears, but everyone on both sides of the ball was a good sport. (A couple of Bears were so focused on their job on the
field, they actually had to ask if we won or not!) While it’s never fun to lose, I believe this will be
motivation to work that much harder in preparing for the cross town rival and divisional foe, Cardinal Cougars next
Saturday.
Go Bears!

The Blue Bears locked paws this past Saturday with a tough Lightning team on the Rainier home turf. The battle
raged in the trenches with the first half ending in a 0-0 tie. The Bear D-line was solid the entire game with a bend-but-not-break
style against a powerful Lighting running game. Jaren Thorpe, Cooper Woodruff, Wyatt Martin, and Toby Nwankwo, led the
charge upfront on defense keeping the massive Lightning O-line in check with their own lightning quick attack, often penetrating
into the backfield. This relentless style opened the door for Bear linebackers Clark Hallum and Tony Mason as well as
cornerbacks Evan Pape and Cade White to finish many a Lighting drive with swift precision tackling.
The offense came alive in the second half behind the solid Bears line including Nick Heay, Caiden Carlson, and Connor
Frederickson. The line opened up the middle for the punishing running of Scott Gunther out of the fullback position.
But it was quarterback Ethan Hayes who would score the game winning touchdown on a 60 yard run, shedding would-be tacklers
all the way to the goal line. The fired-up Bear defense took the field to stop the Lighting one last time before taking
over on downs and running out the clock with a 7-0 win! Great job Bears!
